Barco's arrival management software increases air traffic efficiency at Hong Kong International Airport
ATCA, Washington, DC, USA, 28 October 2007 - Barco has been awarded a contract by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD) to provide an Arrival Metering and Sequencing system based on its OSYRIS arrival management software for a six-month trial period. The system, to be installed by the end of this year, will enhance air traffic efficiency at Hong Kong International Airport.
For this project, Barco's arrival management software solution was customized to the operational procedures and specific airspace structure of the Hong Kong Flight Information Region. The CAD not only valued the sophistication of Barco's arrival management software, Barco was also able to commit on a tight project schedule required by the CAD. Barco will take full responsibility for the implementation, installation, testing and validation of the software as well as for support services and warranty.Barco's arrival management software is part of the OSYRIS Commercial-Off-The-Shelf product suite that has a proven operational track record. Design of the product suite is based on Air Navigation Service Provider requirements and industry research. Barco's OSYRIS decision support tools have become the application of choice for air navigation service providers, research organizations and system integrators worldwide, including EUROCONTROL, Skyguide Switzerland, Avinor Norway, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, NAV Canada, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.
Delivery and installation of the AMS system at Hong Kong International Airport is expected to be completed in December 2007. Barco will provide on-site support service during a six-month evaluation and trial period. It is expected that the CAD will put the AMS system into operational use after successful completion of the trial with satisfactory results.
